Thanks to Véronique Jamain for this recording of two traversos, one in boxwood, the other in resin.
Which one is the Resin flute? Answer further down this page.
After Godefroid-Adrien Rottenburgh (Brussels 1709-1790) at 415 Hz or 442 Hz
- in ebony-tinted resin, 2 ivory-colored rings, with solid silver key.
Godefroy-Adrien Rottenburgh (1703-1793) was the son of Jean-Hyacinthe Rottenburgh and continued the family legacy as an instrument maker in Brussels in the 18th century. His instruments were appreciated and played throughout Europe.
This traverso was popularized by the illustrious flautist Barthold Kuijken, who owned an authentic original and used it for some recordings. It is one of the most well-known and appreciated traversos.
Thanks to Pauline Lodéon for this recording (Telemann - Fantaisie N°6 - Spirituoso)
Thanks to Xavier Janot for this recording (JSBach-Sonata BWV 1030 (Largo e Dolce))
