This new model is part of my Historic Instrument Reconstruction program, which includes the Voice Flute, the Ganassi in G, and the 17th-century soprano.
It is interpolated from an alto flute by Th. Stanesby, which I now consider to be the best optimized and most balanced of the historic instruments that have come down to us.
At modern pitch 442 Hz, this recorder is particularly comfortable, and the fingerings are easy to reach even for small hands. You will have the choice of Montpellier Maple from France, which is a small tree with very hard wood whose fine grain and appearance are reminiscent of Boxwood. The latter is a very stable wood that causes few condensation problems and offers great lightness.
As with the other recorders in my Historic Instrument Reconstruction program, extensive prototyping and research were necessary to achieve a finely optimized instrument that remains very close to the originals.
From this careful development was born a particularly successful recorder: very easy and quick high notes accompany beautiful low notes, and the intonation is difficult to fault, regardless of the key.
